Poor healing

Noticing cuts and scratches are taking longer to heal?

If you are prone to minor accidents a lot, then you might notice this symptom a lot quicker then other people. If you find your cuts and scratches are taking longer to heal then usual, you might want to check if you have any other symptoms as well. A perfect example of this situation would be playing with your cat; if you start to notice those scratch marks are taking longer to heal in between play sessions, you should stop and examine your situation in more detail.

The reason why those cuts take longer to heal is because high blood sugar levels prevent white blood cells from doing their job. White blood cells are one of the main deterrents against infections diseases and bacteria. When your body gets cut, white blood cells often clean up the dead cells and bacteria and help speed up recovery. But when they can’t do their job properly, it takes longer for those wounds to heal. Over a long period of time, your blood vessels start to thicken and cause poor circulation throughout the body.
